The eighties

If you grew up in Noordwijk, you may still remember it: Rob Ruigrok's mini golf course on the Grent. Summer evenings, an ice cream and counting who took the fewest strokes.

In September 1987 even the Dutch national team came by. Under coach Rinus Michels, the team was preparing in Noordwijk for a friendly against Belgium. Between training sessions, Marco van Basten hit a ball on the mini golf course at Huis ter Duin, with John van 't Schip and John Bosman beside him.

After the eighteenth hole

A golf course has eighteen holes. What comes after is what golfers call the nineteenth: the bar, where you play the round all over again.

Rob Ruigrok took that literally. After the mini golf he opened a nightclub and named it after the nineteenth hole: the 19th. That is how the story of the course carried on, on the dance floor.

Later the mini golf moved to where it is now: Duinweg 6 in Noordwijk aan Zee. There it grew into Adventure Park De Rollygolf, with trampolines, mini cars and a clubhouse with a covered terrace. In April 2025 the course was renewed.

And the bar is called Hole 19 again. After your last putt you pull up a chair there, just like back then.

Play 18 holes and finish at Hole 19.
